
Polychrome lacquered wood Kuan Yin, (also written Guanyin) a Buddhist Bodhisattva, usually female and counterpart of the Japanese Kannon, the Korean Guan-eum and the Vietnamese Quan Am, all considered a Buddhist deity of compassion, love, mercy and protector of children. This figure was acquired in Bangkok, Thailand but originally from China. Dates from the late 19th - early 20th century and stands 42" tall by 13" wide and 8" deep.
