Cast bronze clothes pressing iron with geometric 'key' patterned design around outer rim.Vietnam excavation item and dates from the late Nguyen Dynasty, (1802-1945, which is the last of the Vietnamese dynasties). Measures 6 3/4' long x 5 1/4" wide x 2 1/2" high. This iron would have a wood handle inserted into arm and filled with hot stones for weight and to heat flat bottom facilitating the pressing of textiles.
