Warehouse Virtual Tour

Warehouse Virtual Tour

Saturday, 13 June 2009 08:16

In April of 2008, Richard saw a website with a tour of a home for a real estate listing - he asked me if we could do anything like that for our website. I looked at the website tour he had referred to, was impressed by the amount of flash involved (a technical tool), but realized that we did not have that level of control over our own website at that time. Nonetheless, I thought of how we might go about creating something similar with the tools we had at hand. I looked at what software we had available and within Photoshop Elements, I found that it would create a slideshow. So, I grabbed the camera, and started taking pictures from the perspective of someone driving by and seeing the warehouse, and what their visual impressions might be. Since I was doing what I'd call a "Proof of Concept" I didn't go about the job exhaustively, but rather took pictures that encompassed about 25 - 33% of what we have and what we are.

Using Photoshop Elements, I asked it to create a slideshow of all the pictures that I took, and then found out what it could do - panning - showing different parts of the picture at across time, transitions - the switching from one slide to the next, and music - and the program had music included with the software, ready to use. After viewing what the program created on it's own, I made various changes to suit my purpose, and what I thought would be more interesting (in contrast to this article...). After adjusting and saving the slideshow, I discovered that the program would create a video of the slideshow - which is now available on YouTube and embeded here for your viewing.

The video is over a year old, some of the products in the video are no longer available, and there are many new items not shown in the video - but from the confort of your location, you can see some of what we have to offer - perhaps you'll be interested enough to stop by sometime, or curious enough to browse our collection contained, in portion, on this site.

Enjoy!
