Tran Dynasty Celadon Lotus Bowl
Tran Dynasty Celadon Lotus Bowl [vie550302ess]  shipping weight: 3 LB
This is a flawlessly beautiful bowl with a light, crackled yellow-green glaze from the Tran Dynasty (1225-1400). This bowl is decorated on the exterior with designs of lotus petals reaching up to the rim. The inside is incised with a depiction of a blooming lotus flower and stylized lines representing water and leaves in a schema much more free formed than Song or Yuan counterparts. The band on the inside is also placed about a third down from the rim, distinct from Chinese practice which would have the band closer to the rim. There are evidence of spurmarks among the central lotus on the interior of the bowl. The footrim is unglazed and uncolored, and the base shows the potter's mark. This piece is Museum quality.
